What
is FTP?
FTP stands for "file
transfer protocol." FTP is the internet's mechanism for transferring
files between two computers. FTP allows you to get access &
upload files stored in a directory on a hard drive on a remote
computer connected to the internet.
How do I upload files to Prism via FTP?
If you do not already have an
FTP program, these programs come in a self-extracting, self-installing
download file. You must first download the self-extracting file
to your hard drive. Then you run (double click) the downloaded
file to install the program.
If
you are using Windows, you will probably want to download WSFTP,
which can be found here.
If
you are using a Mac you will probably want to use Fetch, which
can be found here.
If
you need FTP software for another OS or would like to try applications
other than the ones listed above, visit download.com
and search for FTP.
What information do I need in order to establish an FTP connection?
You will need an account, which
consists of a user id and a password. If you would like to submit
your files via FTP please contact
us for an account. In addition to having an account, you need
the following server address;
host
/ server address: ftp.prismcolorcorp.com
port: 21 (default on most FTP programs)
Is there anything else I need to know?
If you plan on sending a Quark
collection, or a large number of files we prefer you stuff / zip
them prior to uploading, that way you upload one file that contains
everything you need to send us. If you do not already have such
an application, they can be downloaded for free at the addresses
below.
If
you are using Windows, you will probably want to download WinZip,
which can be found here.
If
you are using a Mac you will probably want to use StuffIt, which
can be found here.
